A problem that arises through a small group of people like Murdoch and Rother is that their ideals and beliefs trickle down into the news outlets they own meaning there is high amounts of bias in UK press. Both Murdoch and Rother are right wing.
conglomerate- Business corporation formed by purchase of other businesses
global conglomerate- As above, with businesses with more than one country
Horizontal integration- when a company buys rivals, for example Disney buying Pixar
Vertical integration- when a company buys other companies that do part of its business- Disney, Buena Vista, Disney plus
David Hesmondhalgh- suggests its hard for businesses to predict success so they rely on repitition to generate profit

Video game industry is a young industry, younger than film and tv. Video games are younger than film and tv, growing through the arcades in 1970's into home consoles in the 1980's and most recently handheld gaming devices.
Consumer game software market was valued at £4.28bn in 2021. It has grown 11.4% in comparison to a £3.84bn total from 2019.
Spend on digital console games reduced by 5.59% to £1.65bn. This is mostly due to lack of huge game releases driving sales , although is still impressive in context of video game sales.Video games regularly outstrip the profits of music, tv and film industries.
