The BBC is a world-famous institution. Without the BBC, we wouldn't have: Dr Who, EastEnders, David Attenborough, Match of the Day. Right up to the 90's BBC owned half of what you could watch on TV.

The BBC has had to adapt from its channels being essential and irreplaceable to being one of hundreds of options. With companies like Netflix making high quality TV.

Since BBC is a PSB, it has to provide content for everyone. It does this by having a variety of channels.


Radio 1

remit is to entertain young listeners. It's target audience is 15-29 year olds. It should offer: 

-A range of new music

-Support emerging artists

-provide a platform for live music 

-Should cover areas of relevance to inform and educate

-40 songs are picked each week. Separated into 3 categories A list, B list, C list
